The area surrounding Banff National Park is any photographer’s dream. It still offers countless unexploited landscape views that would be print worthy. This view reminded me of some of Ansel Adam’s landscape work. Black and White landscape photography works particularly well during bright days, using yellow and red filters to increase the contrast and reduce the levels of exposed light.
“The Athabasca Glacier is one of the six principal ‘toes’ of the Columbia Icefield, located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier currently loses depth at a rate of about 16 feet per year and has receded about a mile and lost over half of its volume in the past 100 some years. It is the most visited glacier in North America. The leading edge of the glacier is within easy walking distance; however, travel onto the glacier is not recommended unless properly equipped. Hidden crevasses have led to the deaths of unprepared tourists. The glacier is approximately 3.7 Miles long, covers an area of 2.3 Square Miles, and is measured between 300 and 980 feet thick.” – Wikipedia
