Mamiya Sekor C 45mm f/2.8 is a manual focus, wide angle, prime lens for Mamiya’s Medium Format 645 Film SLR system. This lens consists of nine elements in seven groups. This medium format 6X4.5 lens has a 6 blade aperture. This lens weighs roughly half a kilogram or a pound, add to that the camera weight, it’s beautiful. The lens is similar for use as if you’d be using a 28mm on a 35mm (full frame) (D)SLR camera.

To add a bit of nostalgia, I photographed this series using Kodak film in both 35mm Ultramax and Kodak T-Max 400 Medium format film. During busy season the place can get a bit crowded, but early mornings, an efficient and fast work-flow ought to be sufficient to get a few long exposures in.

Mamiya’s glass is always great, not necessarily “the best” but great, good workhorses for most applications. Mamiya was inventive and trend-setting in many ways. Today Phase-One cameras (digital) is all that’s left of it.
